KRISTI NELSON WALTRIP, LMT LA#3951, LAPO #222
This course is designed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of today’s massage therapists to promote serving a diverse clientele. We will review current research-based data on the benefits of massage, focusing on stress reduction, pain management, and palliative care. We will highlight current trends in the massage industry and changes since the COVID-19 pandemic. Therapists will learn how to give high quality compassionate massage sessions to the elderly by taking a closer look at the needs of aging clients, including positions and techniques that work best for them. Therapists will explore connections between headaches, neck and shoulder pain, and review muscles located in these areas of the body. We will also look at ways massage can be used to reduce anxiety and depression. Hands-on practice during the course will enhance proficiency when working with clients affected by stress, aging, headaches, depression, anxiety, and more. Additionally, we will explore the world of massage modalities, including reflexology, Thai massage, shiatsu, cupping therapy, and therapeutic taping.
